What are employment claims?

It means you as an employee claim to an employment tribunal due to an unlawful treatment at work, such as: 

  • Unfair dismissal
  • Discrimination
  • Unfair deductions from your pay

If you wish to make a claim, you must first notify ACAS, who will then offer you an early conciliation service. If this early conciliation ended without an agreement, ACAS will issue you a certificate that you must take to a tribunal.

 There is a strict time limit for you to claim to an employment tribunal—usually within three months of the end of your employment/or when the problem you are dealing with has occurred. To begin the steps to an employment tribunal, you must first fill out the ET1 claim form to your employer. You must keep note of exactly what happened and when for you to make your claim verifiable and persuasive.
